One of my absolute favorite things to do, is to just go onto google earth and look around until you find an area that looks really cool. There are endless amounts of places that are awesome that nobody goes to. Sure sometimes you might have to wander in the woods on foot for hours or drive your car through a nameless field always in the middle of nowhere. However, once you find a new spot, there is no greater feeling. SO I’m not sure if any of you knew this, but last weekend on August 12 the Perseid meteor shower peaked. It was truly a breath taking experience to witness. I knew it was coming so a few day before I started looking on google earth to find my sweet spot for watching the shower. Needless to say, I found it. My GPS only took me so far, after that, it was all navigating nameless roads for about 45 minutes with only a rough idea of where I was trying to go. Luckily, I guessed all the turns correctly and me and my buddy made it to what we guess to be a dried up river bed.
On google earth I actually thought this place was an actual river, so you can imagine my excitement when I figured out that it was all sand littered with dead trees. We actually went for like a four mile run when we got there just to get a feel for how massive this area was. We ran two miles in the same direction and saw no end in sight so we turned around to get back to my truck.
This picture right here was my attempt of using a flashlight to add some foreground, but It didn’t work quite as well as I had hoped
Have a great day!
